This report concerns the UK market for crawler dozers and loaders, and is the third report on the subject in the European Service, the first being published in 2007. Crawler dozers have engines from 45 to over 700 horsepower, but in practice there is no demand for the very small dozers and very little for the small utility machines with engines below 100 horsepower that are popular in Asia and North America. Machines currently in operation range from the smallest 70 horsepower models to those of over 800 horsepower manufactured by Caterpillar and Komatsu. In practice, most crawler dozers sold are what used to be in the 130-190 horsepower range but with the introduction of new emission engines much of the market has now moved up to the 150-220 horsepower band.
