Zhengzhou Yutong Heavy Industries Co. Ltd (or Yutong HI) is a subsidiary of Zhengzhou Yutong Group Co. Ltd (Yutong Group), and was founded in 1956 when it was called Zhengzhou Heavy Machinery Works. During that time it was appointed by the government to specialise in the development and manufacture of self-propelled scrapers and wheeled dozers for both military and civil applications.

The Yutong Group’s core business is the development, manufacture and sale of buses, which is operated by the Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co. Ltd and is floated on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. As well as construction equipment, it is also active in the automotive component and real estate sectors. The Yutong Group achieved a total turnover of RMB25.9 billion in 2011, of which Yutong Bus contributed RMB16.9 billion, while Yutong HI accounted for RMB2.1 billion.
