This report concerns the market for agricultural tractors in the UK. The country is still a producer of farm tractors, although production numbers dropped dramatically with the closure of the Massey Ferguson plant in Coventry in 2002, and the McCormick plant in Doncaster in and 2007 respectively, leaving only two UK manufacturers, Case New Holland (CNH) and JCB. The last study on the subject by Off-Highway Research was published in August 2018.

The findings in this report are based on Off-Highway Research's existing database and on information collected during interviews conducted in the UK with the manufacturers, leading importers, and dealers from August to September 2023.

The trade association, the Agricultural Engineers Association, or the AEA, publishes, under the terms of an agreement with the European Commission, a limited amount of data on registrations of tractors over 50 horsepower in the UK. It publishes sales by manufacturer, for instance, only once per year and with a delay of 12 months. This report is based on Off-Highway Research’s data and information, but uses some data from the AEA, and source data is referenced appropriately.
