This report on the North American asphalt paver market updates our last analysis from April, 2021. The asphalt paver is an essential piece of machinery for paving surfaces. The bulk of work is done paving roads and highways, but other surfaces, such as airports, parking lots, driveways, and paths comprise a smaller component of the market. Most, about 90 percent, of paving in North America, is done with asphalt. The other 10 percent is done with concrete, using slipform pavers, a different type of paver (not covered in this report). Concrete paving tends to last longer than asphalt paving, but the drawbacks are notable, including higher costs and a more uneven ride. Thus, asphalt paving will maintain its market dominance for the foreseeable future.
