This report examines in detail the Indian market for hydraulic excavators, and is an update of the study last undertaken by Off-Highway Research in August 2022.

The hydraulic excavators included in this report are defined as machines being capable of turning completely through 360 degrees, mounted either on steel tracks or wheels, and having a service weight of over 6 tonnes. The machines which have an operating weight of up to 6 tonnes are known as mini excavators and these have not been included in this report.

The findings presented are based on Off-Highway Research’s database and information collected through a series of in-depth interviews conducted with the industry’s leading manufacturers and importers in June and July 2023.
