This study of Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited, more commonly known in the industry as TAFE, is Off-Highway Research’s update of the detailed profile on the company first carried out in November 2015. TAFE, together with its subsidiary TAFE Motors and Tractors Ltd (TMTL) is the second largest agricultural tractor manufacturer in the country, and globally the third largest in terms of volume.

TAFE is a part of the Chennai-based Amalgamations Group comprising over 40 companies with diverse business interests with a focus on light engineering products.

This report presents outline information on the Amalgamations Group and primarily concentrates on TAFE’s and TMTL’s agricultural tractor businesses in India. TAFE and its subsidiaries are referred to as TAFE Group in this report. TAFE’s foreign subsidiaries operating in the USA, China and Turkey have not been covered in this report.

The company sells under 18 horsepower mini agricultural tractors in alliance with Captain Tractors, a Rajkot (Gujarat) based company.

TAFE’s financial year starts on 1st April and ends on 31st March of the following year. All references to the financial data of specific years in this report therefore refer to the financial year that starts in it.
