The subject of this Company Profile is LiuGong Europe. This is the European distribution, sales, marketing and support division of Chinese parent company Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co. Ltd – referred to in the rest of this report simply as LiuGong.

It follows a previous profile published in 2019 of LiuGong Dressta, the Polish manufacturer of construction equipment that was formed in February 2012 when LiuGong bought the construction equipment and associated assets of Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW), a major Polish manufacturer of heavy construction and military equipment. The two units worked closely together, hence the link between these two reports, but LiuGong Europe has become the parent company’s pre-eminent operation on the continent following the sale of the LiuGong Dressta facility in October 2023.

The company that is analysed in this report therefore oversees a variety of different operations across Europe. From its headquarters in Warsaw in Poland it manages a European Parts Distribution Centre based at its former production facility in Stalowa Wola in the south-east of the country; there are also training and demonstration facilities at the same site.

In addition, there is a sales subsidiary for the UK market based in Portsmouth as well as further regional offices in France, Germany and Italy (LiuGong Europe also oversees the regional office in Türkiye which is outside the remit of this report). Two research and development offices also come under its umbrella, one in Warsaw in Poland and a second in Manchester in the UK at which there is also a test area and a customer solutions centre.

The range of the company’s activities is completed by an industrial design centre in Stoke in the UK as well as a 4,000 m² warehouse at its former European HQ in the Dutch city of Almere.
