This report on the global mobile crane industry is an update on the report published in September 2016 by Off-Highway Research. The aim of the report is to present a concise overview of the industry, encompassing all terrain, lattice boom crawler, rough terrain and truck-mounted cranes. Other types of mobile lifting equipment such as telescopic handlers, telescopic boom crawler cranes, mini crawler cranes, reach stackers, forklift trucks, boom trucks, lorry-mounted loader cranes, pick and carry cranes and industrial cranes do not fall within the scope of this report. Neither does it cover other types of static cranes, or cranes in fixed locations, such as tower cranes and harbour cranes.

The findings of this report are based on field research undertaken from January to July 2025, which included in-depth interviews with the world’s major crane manufacturers. The report also draws on information produced by Off-Highway Research’s global network of offices in Chile, China, India, Japan, Germany, the UK and the USA
